Scout had his Court of Honor last night and I finally got one of the Webelos parents to take my place for our meeting so I could go to the CoH. Had a really nice time. There was lots of food afterwards and everyone was glad to take a minute to enjoy scouting.
I asked Feret how his meeting went and he said it was fun. (I had the schedule all written up and all the supplies ready for whoever lead the meeting.) They played a couple of communication games.
When we got home the phone rang and mom was very upset. Come to find out that my 11 year old nefew got hurt during football practice and was being flown to the hospital an hour away. My brother and his ex and his wife and his ex's girlfriend where all going up there. They asked mom if she could go sit with the other kids until they find out what is going on. So I elected to drive 45 minutes to his house (same town but other side). We get there and after about an hour we find out that he just hyper-ventalated after being hit by another kid. Then he put himself into shock. Or something to that effect. They were on their way home. So I was free to go.
On the way home I was doing a little (maybe 7 miles over) the speed limit. So sure enough I see the police car make a u-turn and flip on his lights.
I pull over on the next road and get my license out of my purse and ask Scout to get the registration and insurance out of the glove box.
Police Officer walks up and says: "Do you know why I pulled you over?"
Me: "Because I was speeding?"
P.O.: "Noooo, it's because you have a headlight out!"
Me: "Oh, then I wasn't speeding.
P.O. (as he walks to the front of the car): "Make sure you get that fixed real soon"
Me: "If you kick it it will probably come on!"
P.O. (as he walks back to my window: "I'm not going to kick your car Ma'am!"
Me: "Oh, ok."
P.O. (handing me my license): "You have a good night."
Me: "You too, and I'll slow it down too."
Then we went on our merry way. I can only tell you that after that and all the way home, the boys and I never stoped laughing.
We kept saying stuff like...Scout, do you know why I called you into my office. and then Scout would say because I beat up a 6th grader, stole his lunch money and shoved him in a locker? Noooo, its because you left your bookbag in the lunch room. Ohhhhh.!?
Anyway we were really laughing at the whole thing.
Moral of the story is:
Once in a blue moon, by leaps and bounds, make no bones about it, you can be poor but honest as luck would have it and breathe a sigh of releif. Keep an ear to the ground and your labor of love will catch on hook line and sinker.

I figured a nice happy color should cheer me up! Well maybe! I have all my posessions in a 10 x 10 storage unit and we are sleeping on the floor of my moms living room (except for Baby - he's in his crib). Yep, I'm homeless, not only that but my car is falling apart. The brake fell off last week and I think the muffler is falling apart.
Scouts is going good. I'm down to 9 boys that show up every week. although we did have to cancel the pack meeting due to some miscommunication about the school lease. We were really ready for that one too. darn.
Rick and I have started seeing each other I know not really the smartest thing i've done buit he has been supportive so far and I really have no other excuse other than I'm completely out of my mind...
