I had a good Turkey Day!
I had a thought that maybe I ought to cook something for the event so I asked my Grandma if she still had some of our favorite recipies. I found the one I wanted, Banana Split Cake, in her little cook book. She's 92 and does not cook anymore. She mentioned to me that her favorite one was the cream cheese cake. I checked our pantry for the staple foods and headed to the grocery store. It cost me $45.00 to make one 9 x 13 cheese cake and three pie sized BSC's. My Grandma still has not had any of her cake yet. I'm not really bothered by it. I really enjoyed making it and it tastes great.
The three boys and I went to my brother Kevin's house and rubbed elbows with his wife's family who really had no idea why I was there. I mean really, I was there for about four hours and when I was leaving people were asking me my name for christ sakes! And there were not that many people there. Thirteen adults including myself, and thirteen kids. I spent a majority of the time with the kids. Although I did get to sit at the big peoples table when it was time to actually eat! And when it was time for desert I proudly placed my BSC (pie) on the table next to the pumpkin and cherry pies that someone else had brought. It did pretty well. What ever was left I brought home and Scout ate in the car.
I also brought the game that I made from scratch. I think its called ladder golf. Anyway when I presented it to the kids they all grabbed the balls and flung them at each other and at the game thing. Most of the raquet balls flew apart but the golf balls were intact. I found one adult to play with me and he won. He was Paul who is now married to Shalom who is Rita's sister who is my brother Kevin's wife. (whew) So he is my sister-in-law's brother-in-law! Yeah that's it!
I did not do any shopping on Friday, really bummed about that!. Saturday I did laundry and Sunday I took Baby on a nature walk and we found all kinds of need animals and bugs and trees. He had to be carried a couple of times but it was ok. Then we saw an art show on tenth ave. So we found a parking spot and strolled over there. He was so good at not touching anything! Thank God! The least expensive item was $45 bucks. Then we walked over to the Train Depot. Its now a Museum, cause we don't have any trains that come down here. They have a small kid sized train that goes around the building and when I showed it to Baby he almost freaked. He was so excited. They were not running the kids train either, he was just excited about the tracks! We walked all the way around. Chug chug chugging! He liked the real trains too, there are three of them. Anyway then we went home and the boys wanted to go to the beach so we went just as the sun was setting and that was my holiday weekend!
Ta Ta for now!
